Lead Barista (Part Time, 20–30 hrs/week)

The Role of a Lead Barista:

  • Executes café operations during scheduled shifts. Organizes opening and closing duties as assigned.
  • Directs employees during scheduled shifts to reduce bottlenecks, and to ensure speed of service, cleanliness standards, and operational needs are met.
  • Creates positive learning environment by clearly providing specific, timely, and respectful coaching and feedback.
  • Develops positive relationships with team by addressing individual motivation, needs, and concerns.
  • Actively models and displays exceptional customer service.
  • Delivers prompt and friendly service to all customers by keeping a "customer comes first" attitude, and gives respectful feedback and coaching when customer service standards are not being followed by team.
  • Is an accessible and knowledgeable source of information for all customers and team. Communicates customer feedback or concerns to management to help meet customers' needs.
  • Provides the highest quality beverage and food items on a consistent basis. Adheres to all recipe and presentation standards. Utilizes operational tools to ensure operational excellence during shifts.
  • Builds and maintains knowledge of our company, products, and values. Always acts in accordance with those values.
  • Follows all beverage quality and presentation standards. Constantly looks for ways to improve and develop beverage knowledge and skills.
  • Assists new team members with training and coaching when needed. Maintains a respectful and positive teaching environment at all times. Provides feedback to management on employee performance during shift.
  • Maintains a calm composure when faced with conflict demands. Is efficient at multi-tasking when necessary.
  • Follows all operational policies including cash handling and inventory management and ensures proper cash management practices are followed by shift team.
  • Efficient, comfortable, and competent at the register, and able to coach others on register policy and procedures.
  • Keeps the store clean and well stocked. Follows the duty roster and ensures it is being followed.
  • Is proactive with downtime by stocking or cleaning the store, reading about coffee, tea, merchandise, the company, and the industry.
  • Maintains a respectful work environment and works well with others. Communicates effectively and respectfully with all TL employees.
  • Maintains regular and consistent attendance and punctuality, and adheres to company vacation, health, and safety policy.
