We source exclusively from USDA Organic and Fair Trade Certified farms. These certifications ensure higher wages for farmers, sustainable practices, and no synthetic chemicals in the growing process.
Our cans are made from 90% post-consumer fiber and are recyclable as a whole in most areas. During recycling, the label, glue, and liner burn off cleanly, and the steel ends are magnetically recovered, making it lighter and cleaner than traditional steel cans.
Yes, we use a smokeless Loring Smart Roast system, manufactured locally in Santa Rosa, CA. This reduces carbon emissions and waste while preserving bean integrity and flavor.
Organic coffee is grown without synthetic pesticides or chemicals, which are common in conventional farming. Coffee is one of the most chemically treated crops in the world. Our beans are certified USDA Organic and tested to ensure they meet strict quality and safety standards.
Yes. Our beans are specialty grade and typically washed (wet-processed) to eliminate mold risks. Roasting removes most residual mycotoxins, and we also randomly test batches for safety as part of our food safety program.
Fair Trade ensures farmers are paid a living wage and work in safe, humane conditions. It also supports community development, environmental stewardship, and sustainability projects at origin farms. We’ve supported fair trade since day one.
Absolutely. Healthy soil, proper fermentation, and post-harvest care lead to a cleaner cup. Many of our customers say they taste the difference in the quality and care that goes into every roast.
We roast our coffee in small batches every few days. Bags usually ship within 2 days of roasting. Our cans move quickly too, top sellers like Goat Rock are typically shipped within 1–2 weeks of roast date.
All of our offerings meet the same high standards, but Organic Goat Rock Roast is a great place to start. It’s a customer favorite and represents the best of our ethical sourcing, clean roasting, and sustainable packaging.
Since 1993, when we began roasting in a barn in Occidental, California, we’ve been committed to sustainability and flavor. We started with just a few organic farm partners, and over the years, we’ve expanded our offerings as more producers joined the movement. Today, we continue to push for ethical sourcing, quality roasting, and better coffee for everyone.
